Infiniti Plans Hybrid M35 Sedan

Infiniti Plans Hybrid M35 Sedan with a lot of power in a smaller package. Nissan's Infiniti luxury line Hybird will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The Infiniti designed electric will pack more power with their own light weight lithium-ion battery and will be the cleanest and most economical car in Infiniti’s history. The M35 Hybrid will maintain a high performance luxury sedan profile, overlaying it with the fuel economy and CO2 emissions of a smaller car.

The electric motor acts as both propulsion unit, boosting the V6 in “power assist” mode when maximum acceleration is required, and also as a generator along with charging the battery in the normal way.

2011 Chevy Volt - Electric Car

The Volt propulsion system is powered exclusively by electricity. The Chevy Volt is an electric vehicle that has a range extender in the form of a gasoline engine. This means the Chevy Volt runs on electricity from its battery. Plug the Volt into any electric outlet and let it charge overnight and it's ready to run on an electric charge for up to 40 miles. No gas or emissions during this 40 mile run. A survey from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics found that more than 75% of people commute 40 miles a day or less. So the Chevy Volt will make a great car for local trips to and from work. How long does it really take the Chevy Volt take to charge? In about ten hours, you'll have a fully charged Volt waiting for you, ready to go.

After the first 40 miles the Chevy Volt extends its range with a gas generator that produces enough energy to power it for hundreds of miles on a single tank of gas. The Chevy volt runs on electricity it creates from gas. An electric vehicle with range extending capabilities like Volt, however, uses less gasoline, rides much more quietly in electric mode and helps to reduce emissions. The Chevy volt is in the testing phase and should be available by the end of 2010.
